It’s too cold to play in the snow … so how about some math?!?
Below are two links to review dividing fractions with models. Part of 5th grade standards include using and knowing how to read the models! Students were introduced to the standard algorithm yesterday in class – keep, change, flip … but they also must know and LOVE models J
Another great activity for this cold snow day would be to spend some time on www.conceptuamath.com Students should know how to log in … but in case they “forget” .. (wink, wink) … the customer id is CCSD (all caps), username – s then their student lunch #, password is math. I just checked and all students have assignments they can be working on! We use this in class weekly!
And then there is always First in Math! Students who earn more than 500 stickers on their snow days (If I had to guess the chances of school Thursday are pretty slim) … will earn 5 eagle bucks! The student who earns the most in each homeroom will earn 20 eagle bucks!
Spiral Review will still be due (completed) Friday!
And I think to be fair – Mrs. Hellman would ask that you are also spending some time reading!
Stay warm! Stay safe!!
