Immigration/Ellis Island Simulation Day!! Friday, March 10th. The purpose of the Immigration/Ellis Island Simulation Day is to provide experiential learning about the life of many immigrants during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s in the United Stated. Additionally, students will be reading and conducting research about this period in our nation’s history. Their research will culminate with the simulation experience.
The students have been given the materials needed to prepare for the event. They will be creating a “profile” of an immigrant processing through Ellis Island in 1917. They may base their profile and immigrant “story” on their own family heritage, or they can make it up completely based on our research and reading. Below you will find documents, information and links that can be helpful in leaning about this historical era. There are also many text resources available in the classroom for students to use.
Stay tuned!! We will continue to provide updates and information about this exciting learning experience! Documents:
