Happy New Year! We hope that you all had a wonderful, relaxing break and a few snow days too!
Can you believe that 1/2 of the fifth grade school year is over?!? Time flies when you're having fun!!
We certainly hit the ground running this week here in fifth grade!
In math we did some review of what we have already learned about fractions - adding, subtracting, multiplying ... before we introduced dividing fractions today! We also have started to do a "spiral review" sheet for homework. It's a great reminder of what have learned already and great practice for the upcoming Milestones! I will be using these during our small group/teacher time to help give a refresher course on concepts that we are still struggling with! I've heard a lot of "oh yeahhh"s this week as we have gone over our reviews :)
In Science we began our unit on Electricity and Magnetism by exploring static electricity. This 9 weeks we will learn more about these two fun and exciting topics!
In Social Studies, we finally finshed out the Civil War and Mrs. Hellman discussed Reconstruction. So, we're moving on to fight World War I!
